W209 CLK dash mounted phone removal

Hi everybody,

I would need a bit of help. I have one of those old dash mounted phones in my car and I want to remove it. I have removed the screws that keep the phone mount but I want to disconnect the cable behind the panel, not just to cut it. Can anybody tell me how can I remove the panel or how can the cable be disconnected?

You have to remove the entire center console and glove compartment to get that piece out. If you go to all that trouble, I'd suggest replacing the part since yours now has holes in it. I don't know about in your country, but here in the USA, you can get that piece for around $160 at parts.com.

@Rodney
Do you know how the phone is connected behind the dash panels? Is it soldered to a circuit board or does it have some sort of plug?
I was also thinking about replacing that part, but I'll go to search the salvage yards. Here where I live it shouldn't really cost anything, if I can find it in a yard or somewhere online.
But if it's that big of a job, I might wait till we get out of winter since I don't have a garage and it's still a bit too cold to be working outside for an extended period of time

There are a lot of electronics in the car for the cell phone interface, but that particular cord should be simply plugged into a wiring harness behind the panel.
