Startup RPM

With my other cars, like Honda, Audi, Toyota, the RPM will go to about 2K when it's cold at startup.

Over the last few days, it's like -20C to -30C in Toronto and when I started my 2004 CLK-320 in the morning, the RPM barely went up to 1K.

Is this normal?

The rpm for my car ( '04 CLK 500) goes up to ~1300 and then after 10-15 secs goes back to normal idle rpm (approx 950 i guess)

I wouldn't worry if the engine doesn't stall or the car doesn't shake because of a rough idle.

I have a 2004 CLK500 and when my car first starts up
the idle fluctuates between 1300-1350rpm!!!

anyone else experience this?
I tried cleaning maf, changing air filters changed fuel filter.

it's driving me crazy!

My 320 does this aswell...for the first 10 seconds or so...then the rpm drops down to ~900rpm...

That's perfectly normal. Basicly the idle up on cold start is purely for emmisions reasons to warm up the cats a bit quicker. On your Benz this is done by the air injection pump and retarding the ignition timing which is why it doesn't need to up the idle. The older M112/113 engines without the air injection pumps had a higher idle on cold start. Benz's also hold lower gears a bit longer for the first few shifts.
