What's wrong with my lights?

2007 CLK550 cab. Interior lights work fine with manual on/off, but can not get them to work when I open the door. Have the 3 way switch in the middle position per manual...Same with the welcome lights under the door, will not light up.... Ideas? Thanks for any help

The car definitely has a light sensor. It's in the front windshield and connected to the rear-view mirror.

Maybe the interior light does turn on automatically when the car detects that it's "day". I'll try and test today with my car and let u know. Fairly simple.

I can confirm i once went crazy trying to solve this problem.. turns out the light sensor does in fact tell the interior lights not to turn on if its not dark outside.. Nice touch from Mercedes.. but they should ave told us about it hehe

Mercedes are a bit weird when it comes to these small details. I noticed Comand ntg 2.5 (2005 and onward) dont have light sensors for the screen so the brightness of the screen becomes really annoying at night. where as in my old Comand 2.0 there are 2 light sensors right in the front facia of the Comand and the screen brightness is always spot on. Also they discontinued dipping side mirrors in reverse. there are a bunch of things now that i'm thinking about it.

In Command NTG 2.5, thee is a Night/Dark Theme so that when it's dark out, the screen switches to that and brightness is no longer a problem.

Yes i have the same "automatic theme change" also, but i'm talking about a change in brightness. Nice touch especially when u turn on the light in the car at night and screen gets bright then I watch the screen dim slowly after I turn the light off then I wonder why Germans are such perfectionists..
