Windshield Washer Pump Replacement (pics)

My pump died on my 2008 CLK 350. I ordered a 3rd party pump from Amazon with a grommet and effected the repair in under 30 minutes.

Simply turn the wheels all the way to the left (USA model).

Remove three 10 mm bolts and two plastic rivets, one will be on the underside of the car just in front of the wheel well.

The L-connector leads to the windshield jets. It pulls off easily. Lift the pump straight up out of the grommet and disconnect the power leads. Reverse procedure to install your new pump and grommet. The pump reservoir will drain completely during the procedure so you probably want to park somewhere where the runoff will not create a mess.

I did a search for: washer pump clk 350

They have several. The VDO pump is about $40, the cheapest is about $5. I bought one for $9 with a 4.7 star rating. It works great.

What washer fluid additive are you using? looks like its kind of blue and there's a lot of it! Maybe that's what shot your washer pump

Whatever fluid the MB dealer had in it when I bought the car used. The reservoir was mostly full when the pump went out.

Personally I've always used generic fluid. Never had a problem before.

Just checking. Sometimes cheap fluid can really cause serious issues.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
I only use MBZ fluid in mine (and it's blue). I use it in both the LCK and C240 and my wife's Jeep GC. I do this not because I think their washer fluid is "magical", but because it's highly concentrated and comes in conveniently small vials. I buy them 10 at a time and can store them easily in my garage cabinet.
