Buying a used 2009 CLK350 convertible from a private party. This is our first experience with Mercedes. Is there anyone who can run a carfax check? Vin is WDBTK56F89F265063. Also, in this forums opinion would it be a good idea to have the car checked out before purchase? The car has about 48000 miles and looks pretty clean on the outside and inside. Anyone have any recommendations on fair price for the car? Also the tires mounted on the back rims are the incorrect size. The seller indicated the wrong tires size were put on the car, but the rims are the correct size rims for the rear. Is it possible to have the smaller width tire mounted on the back rims? Should I be concerned?

My 2 cents: Carfax is only an indicator of reported events (many are not complete). Have the car inspected by a competent Mercedes mechanic and also by a body shop ( to determine if previous accident damage or paint work). Surprises on these cars can be expensive. Are the tires the same as the front? If they are, I wouldn't be concerned - as it allows the tires to be rotated. You might also ask for service records or visit the local MB dealer and ask them for their opinion of the service history. One owner is better as you might get a better idea of the history of the car.
Check pricing on the usual sites - Edmunds, Kelly, NADA and autoblog. Also, you might see what Carmax is selling similar vehicles for nationally and then see if you can beat that by $2-3K from you private seller.
^^^ good advice, did both of these before my purchase. FWIW, I bought my 07 550 cab last year with 30k miles, in excellent condition, for $20.5K. Good luck
I bought my clk350 09 with 45k miles for 16,000 from a dealer with tag and **** came out to like 16900. This was about 4 months ago haven't had any issues except check engine light once in a while when I put it on sport and run it around town for a bit but then warning light goes off.
If the tires are small for the rear rims it's not really a big deal. You can go two sizes smaller and stretch the tire for the larger rim. If the car has a staggered fitment style rim (different size on the front and rear), you won't be able to rotate the tires anyway.
