Sport Suspension?
Would you be so kind as to check my newly acquired ‘05 CLK500 VIN (WDBTK75G65T049035) for the same reason?
I’ve taken on my dad’s cab as he recently moved up into SL land, and at 132k I fear the CLK may still have the original suspension components installed. Every pothole makes me wince due to extreme thunk sounds, and the under hood thunk upon sudden braking is hinting at motor mount needs as well...? The car has AMG wheels fyi. I have not inspected underneath to pinpoint wear status on control arms, sway bar end links, etc etc. I will post a new thread on those endeavors soon enough 😉
The good news is that despite having the dreaded 722.9 tranny, it has already had that major repair performed. Btw, is this typically a one-time fix or revisited after (? 100k) additional miles on replacement valve body+ conductor plate?

Here's your datacard:

You do have code 486 - Sport suspension. Th e front shocks are A2093201130. The shocks themselves rarely make noise. It's usually either anti-sway bar bushings or control arm bushings. Motor mounts also generally don't make noise - just vibration.
Regarding the transmission conductor plate, that is usually a permanent repair.

Thanks!!
Much appreciated Rodney!
I had just found your VIN decoder thread and was amusing myself with some of the Google translator attempts (ex “wood tree nut”) 😂
I will keep investigating the source of my suspension sound(s) further...ultimately I think I really need some time under the car to see what kind of shape most of the rubber pieces are in, etc...the clunk sound and weight shift feeling upon sudden braking is a bit disconcerting, and I had considered the ‘throw parts at it’ approach but control arm kits by Lemfoerder aren’t exactly cheap...
Thanks again! You are quite generous with your time and knowledge, much appreciated
