2005 CLK500 (W209) Front Right Panel Removal
Hey Guys,
I got my first boo-boo on my CLK, the front right panel got swiped. I'm trying to determine the most cost effective way of fixing this, and I'm exploring the option of repairing this myself. I can probably buy the panel for around $250, but I'm wondering how difficult this may be for a "professional newbie" as myself. Meaning I don't have much experience working on cars, but I'm no slouch, and hopefully between Google and you guys I can make this repair happen.
Any recommendations or installation guides for a DIY panel replacement?
Thanks!

Well, if I could get a fender as perfect as the one in the photo in the correct color I might be tempted to do that. But keep in mind it still may not be a perfect match. And if the paint is not absolutely perfect, you have not gained much. Not many dismantlers will remove, pack and ship a fender and have it arrive flawless. Fenders just bolt on, but like anything else, first you have to remove this and this and this... But it's not a super hard job. But you won't save much if it needs to be painted anyway. That dent can be repaired pretty easily.

its not too difficult, i have remove the fender in a w210 e320, you just have to take out the side skirt, some clips at the bottom and it will come out. also the black moldings inside the wheel wells. it's not too bad. i would do the same if my fender is damaged.

Wait, now you want to take the fender off just to beat on the dents from the inside? If I'm reading that right, do not waste your time. I guarantee you it will look worse than it does now. Plus you will probably crack the paint and start rust.

take a look at my epic rust repair pics over here, it posted in 2011. so if the clk's fender is similar to the e320 so looking at the pics you should get idea.
i see a tiny rust spot starting to form on the clk, just at the fender. i hope i dont have to take it off like the e320.

look at page 3, you will see some labeling of the nuts and screws.
