how do i run a wire to the underside ?
Hello everyone . I am adding an exhaust cutout and i need to run the wire from underneath the car to the cabin . Where is the best place to do this ? i have a 2004 clk500 convertible . Thanks in advance...

Well, where do you need it to go once its in the car? You can run it where other wires already enter the car. One place is under the rear seat. Another is under the shifter area.

Under the shifter would be ideal . If i remove the shifter cover is there an opening directly to the bottom of the car or is there a grommet?

You could run the wires along the underside of the car and up into the engine bay and through the fuse box. Once you run the wire through the firewall with all the other wires that are there, you can put the switch anywhere easily assessable to the driver.
It may make tapping into 12V (assumed) easier.

is the fuse box on the passenger side or driver? I got the one with a remote so maybe i can just run it up to the fuse box and mount the receiver there without putting wires through the car.

On the 550 it is on the drivers side.
When I ran the wires for my laser shifter I just drilled a small hole (I think 1/4"- 3/8") and inserted a grommet (home depot). It was a tight fit for the wires going through the grommet but I just put a bit of silicone sealant on the last inch of the wires to be pulled through the grommet, just to make sure it was sealed tightly.
I spliced into an "on with switch" 12v wire in the driver dash side fuse box for power.
