MAF Cleaning Help

So, I read a few guides already. I am still stuck removing the electrical connector from the MAF. I pressed the top and bottom taps and pulling and also using a little screw driver but worry it will damage the tabs. Still no luck. My fingers nails are in pain. How do you guys remove it?? with a bit of force? and screw driver help?

It may be different on different W209 versions, so that info would be helpful to someone who has removed theirs.

I have never removed mine (550). I clean it about once a year using MAF by just spraying it through the intake mesh cover.

I bought the cleaner spray. Isn't is bad to just spray without removing it?? I watched a few YouTube videos and they show a lot of residue/deposit drip out from the MAF. Maybe different for the 550 models. Mine is 500.

Yeah, I took one look at that clip and knew it would break. So I sprayed mine in place. I waited a while for it to evaporate, started the car and it blew smoke and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Shut it off after a minute and restarted and it was good as new.

CRC mass flow cleaner? My engine light is on. Should I replace it? And don't bother spraying?

What do you mean your engine light is on? A hundred things can do that. What code is it?

I used CRC MAF cleaner.

I would certainly spray clean it before replacing it.

Ok, I just replaced the MAF today myself. After starting the car a few times the engine light disappeared. I noticed a little burning smell coming from under the hood? is it cause of the cold weather? normal? And a whistling sound that is constant not loud very light on the driver side, I believe it is coming from underneath the hood. but the good news is my catalytic converter stopped making the marble sounds today. I think the sound will come back again soon. Any suggestions of an aftermarket catalytic converter? I wish I can delete it but it is illegal from where I am from and won't pass emissions.

Burning smell and whistling sound is likely a bad cat.

The burning smell seems to be coming from the top vents from the hood. I tried sniffing where the front grille and couldn't really smell anything. The smell is very light.
