The product is made of steel
The mounting bracket is made of 5/32"-3/6" plate steel
The center piece is actually an oval tube formed with 1/16" steel
From the pics the unit depresses the insulation strips on each side such that the top of the unit is about even with where the top of the insulation was before being depressed.
If installed, I would snip the insulation on each side of the bar so that there is not a gap between the hood and the insulation (or bar).
Through some other investigation;
The bar is more effective in reducing flexing on a vehicle with MacPherson suspension, but improves handling/feel/predictability with either MacPherson or double-wishbone suspensions.
Open to correction............

Fatz you make a good point about trimming the insulation. I will do that.
Also makes sense IMO about the suspension types. A double wishbone is a more solid design IMO so i can see it doing more on a MacPherson since more support is based off of the strut.

Cool. Yeah when they work all you get is a subtle more rigid feel. Honestly I think we need one in the back pretty bad. I get out my driveway at an angle and I can literally hear the chassis flex haha.
Anyway, please take some measurements so we know what to expect. Seeing how we all may be running different air boxes, maybe it's best to measure clearance to the metal piece that's covered by the rubber strip, right before crossing over the engine?

but there is a 3/8 gap between my airbox and the bottom of the bar

There is only one bolt on each strut tower that the brace feet can be bolted to. How did you mount the second bolt on each side and how did you find access from underneath to mount the bolt? Also looks to me like the driver side cover over the brake fluid reservoir and the fuse panel won't fit with the brace in place. Is that true - your cover is missing in the photos.

yes there is one bolt on each side. there is also a whole, atleast on mine. So i put a bolt and nut through that.

How did you reach up under the strut tower with a nut and a wrench without removing the strut? On the 55 there is no room as it blocked by the upper spring seat. I'm not sure there is even room for a nut without interfering with the top spring seat. I'd like to hear the details of how you mounted the brace.

2005 CLK55 AMG
Definitely interested in the strut bar if someone can confirm it fits the CLK55.
UR definitely is quality. I had an 08 Accord sedan on coilovers with UR front strut and rear sway bars; that thing was a blast to drive. It was probably the stiffest and best handling Accord around.

The only other one out is the Black Series one which if over $600 and requires more modifications to make it fit

honestly, not sure that is the only pic the mfg had.
I would have to pull the covers inside the trunk to see whats there. Unless someone else has taken them off before
