What is it bolted to? Did you drill holes to install it?

there is 2 holes already there on each side. 1 on each side has a cable going to it.

there is a 2nd hole in the tower. i just notched the bolt hole in the brace a hair to make it line up

What model car is it made for if you had to notch it? Not sure I've seen anybody add a strut brace before.

its made for a w209, the hole in the bar was slotted, to make it so i didnt have to drill holes in the strut tower, i just slotted it a hair more.

i do notice a difference with the bar. Steering feels more responsive, tighter at high speeds. If thats a good description. Not really sure how to say it

fits perfectly with no modification. The Black Series one you have to notch the car where the weather stripping is in the pic

Hmm I'll have to take a look. I don't remember any bolts in the area. If there are existing mounting points, I'm definitely picking one up. Thanks for posting up the pics.

Like most if not all strut braces, the existing mounting points are the bolts that hold the top of your struts to the car. It's a direct strut-to strut brace, so you have the mounting points.

Thanks for sharing your wisdom on general installation of strut braces. I have installed plenty of them and I have also taken the front struts out the CLK55.

Just checked. So we have 1 grounding point per side along with 1 pre drilled hole. The grounding bolt doesn't look very sturdy. I am not sure if 2 mounting points is enough to make a difference. At least the bar is one solid piece, which is good.

Any difference in handling? Does the car feel stiffer in the front where you'd feel chassis flex before? Does the steering feel more "planted"/heavier?

Also, what's the clearance between the bar and the air box? Would it fit with the renntech airbox?

Lots of questions

that stud and whole are what i used to mount it.

i can't say i felt the chassis flex before. But i do notice a better feel now. More solid at high speed and feels more responsive

i dont know if it will fit a renntech box.

I'll have to go out and measure the clearance on mine

Cool. Yeah when they work all you get is a subtle more rigid feel. Honestly I think we need one in the back pretty bad. I get out my driveway at an angle and I can literally hear the chassis flex haha.

Anyway, please take some measurements so we know what to expect. Seeing how we all may be running different air boxes, maybe it's best to measure clearance to the metal piece that's covered by the rubber strip, right before crossing over the engine?

i can measure tonight when i get home.
i guess that would be the best spot to measure since this bar is straight

They do make a bar for the rear of the car. I can attach a pic later also. I havent personally seen that one on a car
