Angry Head unit upgrade

Upgrading the head unit in my 2007 clk350 with a seicane android. I have the harmon kardon system with 6 disc changer. I got the optical decoder box with the order. I can get it all to work but no sound! They don't have an install manual for this yet. Can any one help? Here is a link to the system I got. http://www.seicane.com/android-4-4-4...usb-sd-s018812

Yes. I bought the decoder so I wouldn't have to run the long cable. Canbus box works fine. When I get off work this afternoon I will post the pictures. Do you know which of the 2 anntena cables on the factory radio is which? One is purple and one is yellow. Which one is standard radio signal?

Pics

Here is the setup pic. You have to click the optics from the OEM harness into the decoder. One of the new harnesses on the left pops fuses. The other one works but no sound. I put the old radio back in ...now the sub's between the rear seats don't work. I checked all 3 fuse boxes and they are good. Car don't have GPS only satellite. Maybe it is purple? You know how to get the sub's to work again?

no sound

Turns out there are only a few wires to hook up and 2 rca's, its very simple but i'm not getting any sound. I hooked the up a portable amp to the rca's and it has sound but if you hook it up to the decoder there is no sound. I checked power and ground and its all good. so I put the oem head unit back in and it all works perfect. So does anyone know why? Also I found out the purple wire is the radio. I guess the yellow is satellite?

Sneakysnake, you got your Android head unit to work yet?

I wanted to upgrade just my head unit as well and keep all the other HK setup but I was told by mechanics and car audio guys that I have to re-wire the whole car in order to have it connected to the head unit.

The installation cost would be $2000-3000 CAD (parts+labour). I gave up.. and still using my HK head unit

No. I am still at it. I tried 2 decoders from the place I bought the hu from, they both died and no sound. I have been doing research on this since Nov. 9th. The people at seicane.com have not given up tho. They are finding a car like mine and are going to debug the system, then send me the final product. The people that invented the decoder for optics at nav-tv.com...say they won't have one for my car till end of January... Maybe. Right now I have wires ran all over so I will have sound. I have learned a staggering amount of info but most of it is just here say. I got the WIS software for Benz. Its has all the wiring schematics that no one has. And the fiber optic stuff too. Its amazing.

How is the unit from Seicane? I heard those China command system are usually very laggy... so I am a bit hesitant to buy it. But either way... i think spending $2000+ to upgrade my stereo system is a bit out of my budget at the moment. Initially, I thought it would be just as easy as a plug and play with a deck that would cost me less than $500

I wanted plug n play too but, its not there yet. They are working on it tho. Otherwise I love it. Its fits great and it does a huge amount of stuff. Mine is wired to the speakers temporarily and it sounds great to me. It an android quad 4.4. It seems fast. Other than the decoder problems I would absolutely recommend it. The tech lady Jocelyn won't give up if you have an issue or a question. She always replies.

clk350

I just purchased a clk350 2007.

I am desperate neeed of one of these working head units. Would love for it to be plug and play with the harman system.

But this unit right here is the business:

you can hotspot ur phone to the units wifi and get FREE google navigation on the display.... Cant beat that.

But I would want there to be a decoder for it + steering wheel controls

Let me know if ur unit works out

Seicane is a horrible company. My 9" android head unit had a bad antenna adapter. The DVD player failed shortly after installation. Their only response is to keep giving me BS troubleshooting tips we've already exhausted or send it back to China for service. Now they won't even do that, not that I want a hole in my dash for 3 months. They're just telling me to get it repaired locally. Of course I can't, all I can do is replace the DVD player which I will and live with terrible radio reception. Will just have to stream which works. Even if you get all working parts from Seicane, which is doubtful, it's feeding the troll. Odds are you will have have some sort of hassle with them. Rennlist is littered with reports of bad CANBUS adapters, too. Would have been better of going Alpine from the beginning and probably will replace this POS in a year or two. Don't walk, RUN, from Seicane.

So, did you join this forum to soley bash Seicane?

-You joined this month of this year
-You have 2 posts
-Both are identical and bash Seicane

I'm not going to say Seicane is the best, most reputable company out there. However, I have a Seicane head unit as well that has had no failures up to this point. I am pretty satisfied with most of the unit so far, with the exception of a few small things that I haven't tried to fix yet.

However, for $500 which included a damn good stereo and the CANBUS, Id be willing to buy a couple of Seicane units before I went to an Alpine. Ive had Alpines and LOVED the sound and quality. But there is not a single Alpine that is custom made to fit in my cars location. I can buy adapters and whatnot, but the Seicane looks factory, and actually looks 100x better than the actual factory unit that came in it.

So, best product in the world? No. But is it bad enough to make somebody search and join a forum soley on the fact that the unit they got was bad? Hmmm.........

With the newer units, I am not really experiencing any "lag". Mine has the quad core processor and 1gb of ram. Now, Im almost positive the lack of ram 'could' cause some lag. However, I do not have a lot of apps open at a time. I have Wave for Navigation, Pandora or Spotify for music, and that keeps the unit pretty happy. Now, if I tried to play a game or watch a movie while multitasking other apps, Id be willing to bet it would lag.

Honestly, its just like a cell phone. Look at your intended use, and dont overload it.

I have the 4.4 also . I wanted to hold out for a 5.1 version, but I also wanted it right away. Meh. 4.4 isnt terrible.

Also, I wish I could comment more on the plug and play aspect, but I gutted my system. The only thing stock is the wires leading up to the seicane harness. Speakers, sub, amps were all swapped out to aftermarket units. So it was as far from plug and play as possible! Ha.
