Cat and resonator delete and still not much rumble...
Just got a 2004 CLK 500 in near mint with 68k miles and in near mint. I noticed a lot of engine vibration through the pedal. I know that that sounds odd but it was quite annoying. I previously had a 99 clk430 with 227k on it that never did this... Had them do a secondary cat and resonator delete today and have to say this thing doesnt nearly have the same nasty sound as the 430 did with the same deletes. Looks like a new muffler is in my future then. Any good muffler recommendations would be much appreciated!

Did you have the car checked before you purchased it?
If there was engine vibration, it could be due to engine mounts or, since the exhaust sound is not what you expected, defective or partially blocked/clogged primary cats.
You didn't mention it, but the vibration/drone should have increased with the removal of the secondary cats and resonator.

I have 2005 CLK500 with 22K. If you are feeling things through pedal something is wrong. Open the hood and rev engine. Have someone see if it is jumping up on one side when you rev and release.
My 400E had collapsed mounts and the engine would dance doing above test. Felt vibrations through wheel and pedals, esp at lights in gear. New set of Lemforders and it was quiet and vibration free until the day I got the CLK to replace it.
