car acting weird possibly esp and/or diff?
Hello everyone I hope someone can point me in a right direction.
(2003 clk500) Recently while driving at highway speed and accelerating just a bit it seems like there is a whinning/humming noise from a back left side. Also as the noise happens it feels like the car is applying brakes on a rear left wheel. Once I let the gas pedal off it stops and I can cruise again but it happens again when pressing the gas pedal. To add to it the ESP message came up to visit a workshop. I stopped at a gas station started the car again and now it say ESP not available with the main problem still there. Any help would be appreciated.

It could be ESP attempting to intervene due to a bad wheel speed sensor. I'd get codes pulled from the ESP system to know for sure what's going on. Generic OBDII scanners won't do that - you need the dealers' SDS or another specialized scan tool.

That's what I was thinking. .. I got the car scanned by modis pro scanner and it didn't pull any codes from an engine or a tranny but when I tried to scan the esp( traction/drivetrain) it would not communicate with it for some reason... any ideas why? Is the esp completely dead?
