I'm planning on taking pictures of the CLK500 and the new E-class that will be at the NY Auto Show, and maybe a few of the new BMW 7-series.

My first impression of the new CLK500, based on the spy photos? Not impressed at all, that's why I got the old body CLK, even though I have a deposit on the '03 CLK500. From the release photos, I'm so-so now, I like the CL-style grill, the pillarless windows, and the rack and pinion steering. What I *hate* are the rear of the car (paying $70,000 for the rear to look like a Toyota Camry/Solara??), round airvents, window controls on the door (I like my controls on the center panel on a Mercedes) It seems like too many people had too many inputs into the design pattern.

But then again, it will be a CLK500, and 500's a bigger number than 430. I'm trying to hold on my impressions for 2 more days so I can see it live and in person.

Will post everything this Friday,

Safet

Interior shot too if you can

Hopefully the CLK's will not be up on a pedestal like the concept cars usually are. Looking forward to any interior shots you can get as well. Will be interested in comparing the Command System and trim as proposed for US to that shown on the European models from the Geneva show. Again thanks for taking the time and effort to get pics. (A hint, if you can get to the cars early the crowds usually take a while to flow there. At the Detroit Auto show those of us who got to the Mercedes display were even allowed to sit in the new 500 SL for the first fifteen minutes or so before the number of people congregating required it to be locked up, and then only entered every once in a while by a Mercedes rep to demonstrate the new folding hardtop.)
