CLK350 Cabriolet
ferd
My 2008 CLK 350 Cabriolet will need tires and battery this year.
1. Tires: My mileage is only 25K so the original Continentals are on the car. There are a lot of other brands available. Any suggestions? My driving is around town and highway, but not a lot of either.
2. Battery: My experience with replacement batteries has been: Interstate is the best. Any suggestions?
Also, I have been using Mobil 1. Can any synthetic or synthetic blend be used?
Look forward to hearing from you.
PS: I live in Florida, so no driving in snow!

Your wheels are staggered, so I'd search for tires that are asymmetrical treaded - You'll then be able to rotate side to side. Continental, Michelin, Cooper all offer asymmetrical options. I went for the Zeon RS3-A from Cooper and have been surprised / impressed with them. I've used continental exclusively prior.
OEM batteries are extremely reliable and our cars are very voltage sensitive.. Even slightly low voltage will give you all kind of SMS, ESP, etc faults. Some OEM batteries have been known to last 8-10 years, worth the investment.
Use Mobil 1 0W-40 - there are others that meet specification, but Mobil 1 is widely recommended.

Tires: I like Michelin. Anything over 20K on the rears is great.
Battery: I used to recommend the MBZ/Varta OEM battery, but my last few have no done soe well. Now, my favorite is the "Platinum" AGM battery from Advance Auto. It has a 4-year full replacement warranty.
Oil: Use one that meets MB spec 229.5 spec. Mobil 1 is the OEM, and you can usually find their 0e40 Euro Formula in 5qt jugs at WalMart for about $27 each.
