stearing oil

the dash showed this message on the way to work this morning and of course said see dealer service.

I presume its low on power steering fluid what can be used or is it strictly a dealer product.

I want to add fluid and then attempt to fine the leak.

It actually said "Stearing Oil"? I did not even know the PS reservoir had a level sensor. It should be the green mineral oil type fluid like Pnetosin CHF 11S. Now I'm curious.

I was surprised I know the hose didn't blow I didn't loose power steering.
I just don't want to pay a dealer to add fluid. I hit 80k last week so it could have blown some off over time.

Did you check the level of the PS fluid?

I got the fluid on Amazon for $13 a liter. Have been gradually changing it with a giant syringe thingee. Remove, replace, repeat. The reservoir is really tiny.
