Door Lock
My passenger side door lock is "Machine Gunning" when locking.
Is there a reset that will fix or is this a sign of failure.

your door mechanism (lock mechanism) is shot, very common with mercedes' in general during a couple years. replace the lock and your good to go. I have heard about people taking it apart and replacing some sort of spring, but i've rarely heard it being a longtime fix.

This is what your looking for. I dont have part numbers but they are standard parts. Meaning no variation between models. The only variation will be left and right versions and also right hand drive cars will have lock cylinders for your key on opposite sides so those wont fit on your car, or they will depending on what car you have(left or right hand drive).

I tackled this a few months ago and it's possible to fix this for less than $20. The W203 guys call it lock pogo, 90% of the job is getting access and removing the locking unit that DanielFD pictured above.
Once you have that part removed, you have two choices, you can buy a brand new part for $200 and save an hour of time or you can open the unit and replace the broken spring (and save $180).
This job is on the difficult side; I've done a lot to my CLK, but this ranks as the third most difficult job I've done. It took me 9 hours to complete, although I can probably do it in less than 6 hours next time. I wouldn't be surprised if an indy charged $600+ for labor alone. Here is what you need to tackle the job.

Link to the youtube video that details the "trick" of inserting the spring properly (watching this video is a must, the solution is not obvious).

A good temporary fix is to wedge something beside the door lock pin that will create some drag on it. By slowing down its movement, it will actually work until you can get it fixed. On my C240, I cut a piece of a wooden shim and wedged it in there until I could get around to replacing the lock. That was two two years ago and it's been working just fine.
