Voice Control Module VCM) and MOST Ring config... retrofit

My 2007 CLK Cabriolet had almost everything on it when I bought it used: except the phone and voice control, so I have found kits on eBay and installed them. The Phone with the Bluetooth adapter works great, but the Voice Control module is not being recognized...

The newly-installed Voice Control lever on the steering wheel DOES unmute the radio when pushed back (Voice Recog off) and the mic running into the VCM does work with the phone, so it's in the loop. Just not showing up on any of the COMAND System Screens nor activating for use.

Here is the MOST Loop order I have installed (as per MB MOST specs):
Sound out -> VCM -> UHI (phone) -> SDARS (Sat Radio) -> CDC (CD Changer) -> return

I installed VCM# 203-820-82-85, just as thrilos81 on this forum did in his CLK, so it SHOULD work.

Is it just needing coding? Or is there something else? (thrilos81 didn't need to have his coded...) Id like to save the Dealership $185 diagnostic fee to recode if not needed.

Thanks!

When I moved the VCM over from the CLK to the SLK I had the problem where the VCM wasn't showing up on COMAND, similar to what you are describing. The problem was simply getting the module to "wake up" and sync with the rest of the loop.
So pull the lever to wake it up and go for a nice drive. After restarting the car it should be functional. That's what I did with the R171 and worked a charm.
