Exclamation 2004 CLK320 TURN SIGNAL DASH LIGHTS NOT WORKING

I have a clk320 convert, just bought it, just noticed the turn signal lights on the dash cluster are not working, nor the high beam indicator light???? All the outside lights are working, turn signals in front back and the mirrors. Has anyone had this issue? The backlighting on the guages are working and dimming ok. I am perplexed.

All of the lighting in the cluster provided by LEDs that are surface-mounted on flexible Mylar circuitry. That Mylar can crack and cause problems like this. Unfortunately, there is no good repair for this but to replace the cluster. Officially, you have to have the dealer do this with a new virgin cluster, but it is possible to adapt a used cluster. This requires programming its EEPROM to zero the odometer mileage stored there, then to use SDS (the dealer's Star Diagnosis System) to "marry" it to the car.

I had engine service light led burnt out on my Cadillac. Removed board, resoldered square kind led and passed inspection. Still works. $1 repair. Quite doable DIY project.

When i switched my instrument panel for a silver model i just switched the rear board on the cluster and didn't need coding at all as the rear board houses your mileadge + car settings

The problem is, the LEDs are on that rear board and its attached Mylar ribbon cables. That's not going to help the OP.

If i recall correctly the rear board didn't have any lights at all it sits behind the board with the lights, the only thing it does house is a speaker. Heres a couple pictures i found online:

Thanks DanielFD, I guess you changed yours for asthetics? so I might be able to get a used cluster, and put my back board on it and all is well? I do want to retain the original car info, this car only has 46k!

This has not happened to anyone else? I wonder if there is something else wrong?

Yes thats correct. Though it is a very delicate process so you have to be very careful and all the cables have sensative locks. Id wait for rodney to confirm what im saying will work then go ahead and try it!

Interesting. The last one I worked on had that main circuit board on the back, but the two on the sides were Mylar. Since the EEPROM is in the main rear board, that's all you need to retain.

These are note individually available. The instrument cluster is sold as one complete unit. VDO made these under contract to MBZ and does not sell individual parts. What problem are you having?

Same problem as the OP. Turn signals and hi-beams work, but the display lights on the dash don't work.
