Audio 20 upgrade options (command if possible?)
Evening All,
Sorry if this has already been asked (I've already searched but found little specific to the CLK).
I've got a 2004 CLK 320 with Audio 20 fitted (looks like this > https://www.commandonline.co.uk/images/P/A209.jpg). I have the CD changer in the glove box and audio controls on the steering wheel/integrated menu on the dash.
I'm really interested in upgrading this to a command unit or an after market head unit.
On the aftermarket front I've found this (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DVD-GPS-Pl...wAAOSwuTxV7~lC) on eBay which I really like the look of. Out of them all on eBay this one seems like it most matches the shape/screw holes of the Audio 20 unit - however the description states 2006 onwards (mines a 2004) - so I've got no idea if it would fit![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
This unit (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-B...4AAOSw-zxWpb6x) appears to come up an awful lot on eBay searches but my concern with this is the brackets are on the side rather than the top/bottom - so it seems like it would be an odd fit or a mismatched size.
So, anyone have any idea if this (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DVD-GPS-Pl...wAAOSwuTxV7~lC) would fit or can suggest any command units I can upgrade to? (Also, can anyone advise if command would be 'plug and play'? or would it require coding?).
Budget is circa £300.

Anyone have any idea if I've already got an Audio 20 unit does that mean I have a pre-facelift dash?
I'm really confused by this![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Edit: apparently not as it seems like there's 2mm difference in some Audio 20 units. I give up!

Pretty easy to tell pre and post face lift dash based on the shape of the parts all the buttons are in. Just compare an 04 to an 06 on ebay, for example. And it is my understanding that you cannot use command - not because of the fit - but because the system is totally different. Facelift cars got new electronics as well.

If you can find one.
The older Audio20 has the black and white screen with the CD slot under the screen
The newer Audio20 has a colour screen and the CD slot is above the screen.
It has intergrated Bluetooth so good for phone intergration.
I believe COMAND isn't really an option because you would also have to
install a separate GPS unit to get the sat-nav side of things to work.
Plus it was never designed to fit into the center console of the W209,
the shape isn't quite right.
You can of course slap an aftermarket unit in, but that, for me, would be
the work of the devil.

To the OP: You have a MY2005 W209. I know this is confusing as your "plate year" is 2004. Basically, this is an issue with your government's designation of the car's model year vs. MBZ's designation. MY2005 introduced the "facelift" and that's what you have. As for the width differnce, it's liekly yo are comparing a W203 to your W209. The W203 Audio 20 and COMAND look identical to the W209, but the W209 is slightly narrower.
If you want to upgrade to COMAND, you need a W209 unit, and it should be plug and play. The only thing that might be an issue is the GPDS antenna. The post-facelift models in the USA already have it and it just plugs in. Otherwise, you'll need to get a suitable unit and mount it.

Thanks for all the info everyone - really helpful.
I'm swaying towards an Audio 20 unit with colour display/Bluetooth as they seem fairly cheap.
I'd love the NTG2 unit but it seems a little pricey.
I don't suppose anyone knows if a Mf2830 (A 169 870 54 94) Audio 20 would fit into my car? It's listed on eBay and I've asked the seller for measurements but would be good if anyone on here knows in the meantime.
I'm slightly concerned as I see on another thread that there's 2 different types/dimensions of Audio 20 (w208 and a w209 model) - w209 model being narrower
