Has anyone replaced the center vent cover?

I noticed the other day that the center vent cover is tacky. I found the part on mbpartsworld.com. Has anyone ever removed and replaced it?

EDIT: Found that this is the right part number for my car

2098310444.

Has anyone replaced the center vent cover?-center_vent.png

It can be cleaned! Rodney will likely chime in, but as I recall I used 91% rubbing alcohol. Looks like new.

When you remove the stickiness with alcohol, does it remove the white arrows?

Thanks!

Nope, and I did not pop off the panel to do it but others did, looks easy.

I actually used acetone and a microfiber cloth to clean the soft-touch coating off of mine.

Nail polish remover...stickiness wiped right off!

The arrows are molded in...they wont come off.

Actually, there is "non-acetone nail polish remover". My wife has some of that. I didn't try it as I have a big gallon container of acetone in the garage.

Would the nail polish remover take off the shine of the chrome trim around the panel?

Remove the panel for cleaning - it just snaps in place. Use a plastic wedge to lift it off.

I will probably tape down the chrome trim.

Where are the location of the clips? I am concerned that the clips can be brittle for older cars.

The clips are on the back side of the panel. They are usually not a problem as they aren't very tightly clipped in place.
