What all does the air pump do?
I have a multi-contour seat, and knew there was an air pump someplace in the back for the bladders. I was messing around in the trunk a few weeks ago, and found an air pump in a thick foam case tucked down below the rear SAM/fuse box. I pulled back the foam and noted the part number, and searched it online. It comes back described as "central locking pump." That raised several questions. Is that actually my seat pump? Does it do anything else? Do all 209s have one? Wouldn't locks use a vacuum as opposed to positive pressure that I assume the seat bladders use?

I can't find the CLK PSE (Pneumatic System Equipment) diagram. Will keep looking. Typically the PSE system controls central locking, gas flap, door assist if fitted, rear headrest drop, Multi-contour seats etc. All from one unit in the trunk with yellow piping.
Don't mess with the thing unless broken or they frequently need recoding with a Star. Especially multi-contour seats present!

On the W209, the PSE is only use for the multi-contour seats. If you don;t have that option, you won't have the pump. The door locks are controlled by electric servos.
On my R230, the PSE controls the multi-contour seats, plus the door locks, trunk latch, and the locks on several cabin storage compartments. Honestly, I don't know why it's used for those locks except to make them operate silently, or maybe it's a throw-back to the "good old days": My W123 had vacuum operated door locks, but I think they were connected to the power brake booster and not a separate pump.

Thanks for the clarification. Rodney. Could not find the damn diagram. Wonder why P/N shows Central locking pump? Probably used on multiple models.
