brake failure message .

Sometime when I am driving I get the ABS light on and I get brake failure message and my steering wheel gets hard to turn . If I restart my car it goes away and comes back . I know I need to change my brakes but there is no change brake warning coming up . Any idea what this could be?

I might be wrong, but i think it's the steering angle sensor.

EPS issues should not make the steering wheel hard to turn. You may have a problem with the serpentine belt. If it drags, it can fail to provide enough torque to the alternator (voltage problems can cause odd errors) and the power steering pump. Often a bad idler or tensioner pulley is the culprit.

Thank you Rudeney , I got a new belt and I will test it out . I did realize one thing after an hour or so drive I hear a squeaking noise from belt drive . Can this also be a pulley or its just a belt? Thank you

It's rarely the belt that is the problem - it's almost always a pulley, either idler or tensioner. If one is bad, I'd go ahead and replace both because the other will likely fail soon thereafter.

Looks like it. The only caveat i will offer is that you get what you pay for. You might be better off buying them at your local auto parts store that offers a lifetime warranty. I just drove the kid's C240 the other day and notices it's about time to replace the tensioner again - for the third time! Luckily I did the Advance Auto lifetime part so I'll just take it in and get a new one, no charge.

You'll pay more for their Chinese parts than you would OE from someplace like mboemparts.com
