08 350clk newbe
Just bought an 08 350clk, 91k. Triple black, was Florida car. 2 owner. Seems like in pretty good shape over all. Showing some wear on the top but nothing big. I asked the lady I bought from if it had the wind deflector with the car, and she acted like she had NO idea of what I was talking about.
Question: Did the 08's come from the factory with a wind deflector? I have looked online and seems that there are several companies that offer them for sale. Do you really need one? What are the best replacement ones out there?
Just getting back into MB. My first was a 1963 190D in 1975 with over 300,000mi, great car but had to keep a case of oil in the trunk. When I took it on a road trip to Colorado, going up the mountains looked like a mosquito fogger, no tailgaters haha. My second was a 240D 4 speed, good car, but don't use as getaway car for bank robberies. My last was a 2003 300SD great car, sold with 245,000mi.
Really looking forward to enjoying this 350CLK. Is there anything major I should look out for with my car?
I will have many more questions in the future, and will share my experiences also.
thanks in advance,
cheers

(NOTE: I am not recommending that one or that seller, it's just an example of what you'll fine)
I found that with the windscreen in place and the side windows raised, you can drive 100+ mph no wind buffeting - just a bit of slight turbulence on the top of your head, like a sunroof. Of course it means you can't have passengers int he back seat when you use it, but you're only going to put kids or people you don't like back there anyhow.
Regarding maintenance, I agree with MACEDON about the transmission fluid change, with some exceptions. A fluid and filter change should be done every 40K miles. On the 722.9 7GTRONIC, you drop the pan and change the filer, and you will also have a torque converter drain, so you'll get close to the capacity of 9 quarts out - no need to change "little by little" as some peopel did on the 722.6 w/o a torque converter drain. Filling and checking the proper level is done from underneath (there is no dipstick or fill tube on top). It's not rocket science, but it can be a bit daunting the first time.
You must use a transmission fluid that meets MB Spec 236.14. Valvoline Maxlife is not on that list, so do not use it. Here's a list of approved oils:

Shell ATF-134 is usually the easiest and least expensive to obtain, under $7/quart by the case.
