Carbon Fiber interior trim kit
does anybody have any experience with direct cart trim "w209 real carbon fiber dash trim kit" im about to place an order on it to cover up the factory wood but would like to know if anybody has bought it before or if it's a good buy/idea.

I feel like the carbon would only work well with the sharper facelift interior, it doesn't seem to look particularly good with the pre-face controls. If I had that interior, personally I'd be tempted more, towards the avantgarde metal.

I did this in the SL55, and regretted it. It was real carbon fiber too but the resin was imperfect plus sticking it on only works on two dimensional shapes. It looked ok on the dash but unless you have black trim behind it, you could see it was a sticker. I would skip it and just vinyl wrap the pieces with the "5d" carbon vinyl which is not really carbon at all but looks entirely convincing up to about 4" away from it. That's what I have planned now but the work is in taking the interior apart. JMO

If it's those double sided tape type carbon fiber add-ons, I wouldn't do it. That stuff doesn't provide full coverage, and just looks like an after thought/add on.

Wow right before pressing the place order button I decided to see if someone posted on this thread. I guess I should save the money and just wrap it with 4d carbon fiber then. 5d is just way to thick. Thanks for the replies

Agreed!! My car came with the carbon fiber double sided tape type, and I really do not like it. 99% of people will never notice the imperfections, but I notice them everyday.
I have a non-face lift that I wrapped in carbon fiber vinyl and I think it turned out really well. Id show some pictures, but Im hundreds of miles from the car right now.
But the vinyl is MUCH cheaper, and if you do it and dont like it, pull it back off any you are only out <$50.
