Smoked much?
Naturally, I wanted to get rid of the amber markers on the black 2006 I just got.
I couldn't decide between smoked and clear for my car. I just ordered new headlights, so clear would kind of go with that, but on the other hand, smoked with virtually disappear into the blackness.
I also considered a mask with black reflective tape I already have to correct the overall look while I deal with a bunch of other mods.
I popped out the housing and looked it over. Using exclusively the materials on hand, I decided that I could just mask *the lip* from behind with black spray paint. Zero effort.
Here it is, not too bad for the price....
Nobody is going to loose sleep over this mod, nor the $50 I decided against spending this moment on aftermarket marker lights.
It actually is pretty good. Masking from behind keeps it oem looking.

I have a nice big crack across there. So until I have it redone, it's held tight be a piece of 3M outdoor grip tape. It's symmetrical, with the other side being cracked too.
I've only had the car for two weeks, I'm cutting some corners so I can just drive it for the summer.
I'll try for a real pic, it looks pretty normal. AMG front end is a repair job, not a buy-new job.

Just to be clear, the marker is painted ONLY on the rear of the amber lip, the frontside is normal, except being masked black from behind. I didn't even tape it. That's why my hands are all spray painted too.
