safe to use regular gas - gas shortage

Hey guys,

I am in San Antonio Texas and with the gas shortage, I can not seem to find any premium gas for a week now. Is it safe to use regular gas or will it hurt the engine? Is there anything in particular I need to do?

Also, if anyone else is in SA, do you know of any gas station that has premium? I really don't want to put regular gas in the car but I am getting discouraged. Thanks!

NO LONGER ACTIVE
It will be fine. The engine has knock sensors so it will adjust the timing accordingly. Performance and efficiency will suffer, but it will be fine in the short run.

When I go on long road trips - just finished 3,500 mile trip - there are lots of small town gas stations in America that only have that have 87 octane and nothing else. No big deal.

Make your own 91....1/2 tank of 87 and a 1/2 tank of 93 will get you close :-)

so there may be market for octane booster or maybe apps that show where high octane gas is available

if you want to increase the amount of oxygen and have a car that can pump enough ethanol then you can instead mix the petrol with E85 any car that is from maybe 2005 or newer should be able to handle 10% E85 With 19% E85 you should get 93 octane

That is a MASSSIVE number of "If's" - no way I would do that to any of my cars...well, unless I was ready to replace my O2 sensors and deal with some down time.
