Routing electric cutouts to rear fuse box

Hello, does anybody have any insights on how I can route my exhaust cutouts wire that were originally supposed to be powered by a cig lighter, but Instead i want it to power off the rear fuse box? I'm waiting for my ATC add a circuit from eBay but would like to know if that would work on my 2004 clk320, if so which fuse number am I able to connect to without damaging anything electrically and how many amps may this cutout need. Thank you

Personally, I put a hole in the spare tire well (plastic/fiberglass) high up right behind the rear bumper. Use an appropriate grommet and water won't be an issue, wires will be easily accessible in the future.

The rear SAM has a few switched fuses, just check with a multimeter see which ones are switched and which ones are constant. Use the instructions on the fuse tap and add an appropriate amperage fuse for the cutouts. The manual for those should tell you how many amps the use.

ok sounds good thanks, it would help if the company had even left some sort of note in the package lol not a single instruction

A forum said it uses 5 amps but it didn't work when I put a 7.5 fuse. What I did was added a 7.5 fuse to the adapter and added the 7.5 that's on top of the 25 in the middle as shown in the picture. And nothing, I'm grounding the black wire on the cutout its self to test it before screwing it into the chassis I'm not sure if that's the problem improper grounding. Someone please help me why every slot I put in the add a circuit adapter it won't work.

Make sure you're using the fuse tap properly. You need to have 2 fuses in it.

Apart from that, check that the fuse has power (the one you're tapping). It could be constant or switched. Also check the cutouts...just apply power to them see if anything happens.

This is pretty simple wiring so not many things could be wrong.

The valves work for sure since I tested them before cutting the wire in cig lighter. As for the add a circuit, I had added a 7.5 fuse from my glove box and took out the 7.5 fuse that is plugged right over the 25 amp fuse as shown in the picture. I plugged everything in turned on the car and still nothing. As for the black ground wire I just attached it to the metal cutout for tested before physically bolting it into the frame. I'm going to buy a multimeter today to test the slots. But I'm just confused as to why Mercedes plugged in a 7.5 amp fuse over the 25 and it doesn't even power anything

Do you have 2 fuses plugged into the fuse tap? Sounds like you do.

Use a multimeter to check the fuse slots on the SAM or try different slots. Also, make sure you're getting good ground. That can be weird sometimes.
