CLK 280, 2006, the engine light came on, I connected up the icarsoft i980 and went through all the systems, no DTCs were high lighted, any suggestions on where to go next?

 

My i980 indicated no DTCs after a CEL a couple weeks ago. I ran a manual diagnostic on the engine then used escape to the prior screen and it would then read the codes.

 

Engine light on but no faults! Throw your scanner in the bin! Use proper tools and you will find the codes

 

I would consider The Icarsoft i980 to be a pretty good scanner when it comes to MB.
its a useful tool..no problems

 

When I could not read any codes with the CEL on, since was just a short time between the CEL and the attempt to read the code, I assumed it was due to some timing issue between the event and when it's logged or I just did something wrong. That has only happened twice out of maybe 15 reads. In any case, run a diagnostic and it will then read everything logged, whether associated with the diagnostic you ran or not.

 

Then try it again. Scan engine and gearbox
