Buh Bye CLK

Just kidding. I think the design on the W209 is timeless and I am not getting rid of it unlike some of the deserters on this forum.

Anyway, I did purchase another car and have roughly 15 Autocheck....checks left. If anyone needs me to run something, let me know.

Hehehehe! Good one! I read your title and I was like daaaaang! Another one selling his CLK. This forum is going to be empty soon. Glad you're keeping it around

It is a timeless design indeed with the absence of the pillar which still attracts me to date just like it did the first time I saw the car. I picked it up from the car wash today where it was shining like a brand new paint job (thanks to buffing and waxing) and I got sooo excited to get in it and drive. Nothing beats that feeling.

I'm going to keep it as long as I can until I get married where I'll need a 4-door sedan by then and which most likely will be a W204 2012-2014 C-class with the AMG package.

Indeed...especially if you have some nice wheels on it and an updated head unit there really isn't much a newer car has to offer. I also think a lot of the newer cars, new Civic *cough *cough, are waaaay too over styled. I hope I am not turning into one of those old grumpy guys who starts every sentence with "back in my day.....".

Let's see how many requests from people shopping we get and then I'll start running VINs. I got about 2 weeks left to do it.

I was instantly upset by the title of your post...glad you were joking!! I have read and re-read your build thread and I am amazed at what you have done to that car! I am really enjoying my CLK after a brief mistake with an older Lexus LS430.
Nice enough car, but bored me to tears!

Keep the faith Mega! MBZ or I'll walk!!

+1 on being suckered in! My first thought was that you must have wrecked it - I couldn't imagine you parting with it after all that work you've done.

BTW, what was the other car you bought?

Blackduc haha yeah I was hoping people would panic a little. I am not parting with it anytime soon, as all the mods are working great. I'm also continuing work on it. I've done a full carbon fiber interior since my last posts and working on a digital cluster now.

Rudeney, I've spent some serious time shopping around and comparing cars. I'm the worst car shopper out there as I never seem to buy the same make twice...until now. So yeah, I am sticking with Mercedes, namely a CL63. I was going to get the facelift one but a few things bothered me like the fact that the front fenders don't match the rear end of the car and that upgrading turbos or swapping them out would be a major PITA. When I found a pre-face lift one with 18k miles it pretty much sealed the deal. I've already got plenty of ideas for this car as well...after I do the mandatory initial mod of swapping head bolts. German quality eh.

Oops, forgot a 2. WDBTJ76H55F142086. thanks!

I pretty interested as I bought this car for $3500 bucks from a guy that got it at auction. It has a clear title but I am guessing it has a checkered past.

Man and you never ran any checks on it at all? You got faith. I research the hell out of a car before I buy. PM me your email so I can send you the stuff.

Normally I am the same way. My issues was I sold my DD and did not have any way to get to work. He did have the title in his name (i checked his ID) and I figured the worst that could happen is I have a bunch of stuff to start my 190e m113 swap. Thanks again.

No problem and yeah for 3500 you can't go wrong. At least you checked his ID

Congrats! The CL63 is a nice care, and actually very rare. Just the other day, I told my wife if I ever decided to go back to a hardtop car, it would be a CL or CLS. In addition to head bolts, make sure it doesn't need lifters, too. And regarding the German quality issues, it's all about the suppliers of these parts. Everything went downhill when they stopped forging parts in-house. The suppliers just don't have the same commitment to quality as MBZ.

I still think MB did a great job in designing the W209. It looks good after all these years.
If they make a w209 with the updated technilogies, I will buy one in a heartbeat.

Thanks. Yeah I’ll take a look and replace whatever needs replacing. At 18k miles there shouldn’t be much. If I had paid 150k for the car though, I’d be more than mildly annoyed. What really keeps me up at night is possible ABC issues. What are your experiences with ABC so far...if any?

I've only had one ABC issue on the SL, which was a leaky main pressure hose. The part was around $200 (from an online discount dealer) and took a couple of hours to swap. MY2007 introduced a revised pump and valve blocks which are supposed to be better. I've not heard of as many failures on the revised system as with earlier version, but then again, most failures are mileage and age related so that remains to be seen. I've not done a fluid and filter change yet, but it's on the to-do list since I'm over 50K miles. There is a lot of good info on the SL fourms.

Yeah I’ve been doing a lot of reading about ABC. I’m keeping the faith...proper maintenance should be enough. Also, a lot of people see it as a negative from what I can tell. I’m a little excited to see what it can do. I’ve had cars with air suspension before but this seems a lot better. Plus you can’t expect a technologically advanced car to be reliable like a civic. So yeah scared but optimistic haha.

Anyone else need VIN checks? I’ll post in other forums if we’re done here.

I absolutely LOVE the ABC system. It keeps the car flat in corners. Just be careful not to be fooled into thinking the car has more grip than it really does. The other nice thing is that on rough roads, you an switch it out of ABC Sport, and even raise it and get a much smoother ride. At high speeds, it really comes alive by lowering even further and keeping the car feeling very balanced.

Yup looking forward to that. I’ll probably install the lomo lowering module so I can adjust things to my liking on the fly. I already love the ability to raise the car quickly. Hopefully this will make my soon to be installed cf lip last longer than the one on the clk haha.

Yup I'm in Jersey. Don't hold your breath for me to sell this car though .

Still got Autochecks left and 1 day to do them. Post up whatever you can think of and I'll run it.
