How does this come apart? I want to change the plugs, and this would be so nice to the the hell out of the way.

I think you remove the nozzle by the radiator and the hose as one piece. Don't take that apart.

The inlets look like they are firmly attached and do not want to come out. I've seen videos where they just pop out, but mine look like the left and right are all one piece.

I could be wrong.

I am wrong. I just didn't get violent enough. Popped right out with enough force.

You gotta tug/give it a yank. It will come out. I noticed that with our CLK that had the plastic tubes they were much easier to remove compared to our w211 which has the woven tubes pictured above. At one point I honestly thought I was going to break it trying to remove them when doing the air filters... I didn't but just know you do have to use some extra "umph" to get them off.

I've found that if you pinch the tube at the center where it goes into the collector it comes out easily. The pinch is top to bottom, and you of course have to have the air filter end of the tube disconnected and positioned above the air filter inlet.

The ambient temp in my garage might have something to do with it as well. 5 degrees C is not very friendly to plastic.
It looks like the air cleaner is missing the clip for the center rear most position.
Where does it connect to the elbow?

If you're talking about the point at the rear of the cover center, closest to the firewall, I've never had a clip there. At least it has never been there since before I started doing the routine maintenance myself. I suspect the 4 clips on the underside of the cover are more than enough. I have never had a problem.

Maybe it didn't exist on this model

NO LONGER ACTIVE
There is no clip for the engine cover on the MAF sensor like there is on M272/M273 in other MBZ models.
