Weird climate control issue
2007 CLK550 cabriolet
Today when I had my climate control set at around 72 (normal) everything was fine. about 1 hour into my drive the fan would kick on, blow hot air for about 5 seconds, and then stop. It would go a couple of minutes and then do the same thing. Blow hot air at a high fan speed for a few seconds and then shut off. A few minutes later...the same thing.
I shut the climate control totally off and it still did it.
Thoughts?

So even with the ACC shut off, your blower fan was operating at various speeds? It may be a bad ACC panel, or it could be the blower motor regulator is bad. Hopefully there are stored ocees in the ACC that can be read with an appropriate tool (SDS, iCarsoft, etc.).
