2004 Mercedes Benz CLK500 Convertible

I am trying to replace the alternator on my 2004 Mercedes Benz CLK500 convertible and I cannot get the old alternator out to save my life. Has anyone successfully gotten the alternator out from the top? Or is the only way to do it from beneath? Any help is greatly appreciated.

After a bunch of fussing with all the coolant hoses and removing the radiator fan, I was able to get the old alternator out!!! Now hopefully the new one is easier to get in that it was taking out lol
