I removed my CD Changer and accidentally cut the fiber optic cable. The remaining pieces are too short to use a coupler and I would prefer to simply change-out the cable. Any ideas how and if this can be done. An alternative that I'm looking into is pulling the stereo out and finding the two loose ends of the cable and connecting them.

The cable goes to another connector behind the radio. Other than difference in length, all the fiber cables are the same (once you remove them from heir connectors). I'd just see about buying a piece on eBay.

Fiber Optics
Thank you for the info. As a alternative, I found a coupler on eBay and attached the two ends together. It works fine but I feel it’s like putting a bandage on the problem when I should really be changing the cable. I think I will buy a cable and as soon as I get a chance replace the old cable. Does anyone know the MBZ part number?

Optic Cable Part Number
Can anyone tell me the part number for the optic cable that connects to the CD changer?

Patch the cable
Here is the best solution I found. A cable can be replaced but in those situations that it can’t, a simple solution is to cut n patch. Purchase a MBZ cable on eBay and look for a union connector on the cable. It’s a OEM rectangular box somewhere on the cable. Otherwise, I don't know anywhere else you can get the parts that will work. If you pry it open you will see that it connects two ends of the fiber optics cable. Your going to reuse the connector and the ends of the cable. Carefully pull off the ends of the cable and reattach them to your cable your are going to splice. You will need a fiber optic cable stripper. I used a drop of super glue to hold the connector tip onto the cable. This method worked like a charm for splicing fiber optics.
