Front Strut springs

I'm fitting new springs and shocks to the front of my CLK convertible but I do have the correct or safe tool to compress the springs safely. So I took all of the new parts to my local independent Mercedes specialist to compress the springs and fit them to the new shocks. My current springs (with the 3 x yellow marks) are fitted with the colour marks on the base of the shock but the garage has fitted the springs with the colour marks at the top of the shocks, does it make any difference which way the springs are positioned up and down in the shocks.

I don't believe it matters. The springs is symmetrical.

Thanks that's what I thought on another note should should the suspension strut bearing be free moving when suspension strut is all assembled. I have not taken off the old one yet so I can't really compare.

That I am not sure about. My first inclination would be to say yes.
