New owner....odd occurance. Help.

So I fired up the CLK 350 today and I noticed a dead miss in one cylinder. I drove it for a while wondering if a plug wouldn't clean up and fly right. It continued without change until I stopped to get something to eat, turned everything off, then when I restarted it it was completely smooth.

Can any of you guys shed any light on this?

thanks, mark

You need a bit more info for the experts on the forum to be able to help. Even the scan results from a cheap scanner might help. Which cylinder is misfiring? The source of the problem could be anything in the ignition circuit line to that cylinder. If you know which cylinder is misfiring you could start with swapping the coil of that cylinder with one of the other ones. without knowing which cylinder, you can first check the vacuum hoses to make sure none are not connected and also ensuring that the engine cover is properly seated.

Thank you Fatz. I'll try to get my hands on a scanner.

Hey mark, have you recently taken off your engine cover where your airfilters are? If so, make sure and check all of your brackets that fit in the 4 corners that keep a snug fit. If your engine cover isnt on properly, you can get a misfire due to youre MAF sensor not reading right. As fatz said we need atleast some codes will help. If you read your codes and it ends up being codes such as running too rich and misfires. I suggest the first thing you do is make sure you're engine cover is sitting flush with your MAF sensor. You can get up to 8 dif codes from not putting it on flush. Make sure the brackets on engine cover arent bent inwards. Get back with the codes as soon as you can. Best of luck

Thank you Derek. I will check the engine cover. The thing I find odd is that it only happened the one time, and after shutting down and restarting it has been flawless. I've got a buddy who is going to run a scan for me soon.

thanks again,
mark
