Headlight retrofit upgrade.

I have halogen on my clk55 amg. HID would be a great upgrade for the model.
However I do not want to spend $4~500 for a new set of headlight.

I am thinking of purchasing bi-xenon projectors and buying HID kits for my car.
It seems like straight forward process. But fitment of projectors in stock Halogen headlight room is uncertain.
I've been searching for someone who did retrofit mod on headlight but I can't seem to find any.

Has anyone done this?

This is not purchasing a new headlights. I will have to open the lense, install projector and install HID kits.

This will be done within next week.

Any help will be appreciated and I will keep this updated as the process goes.

Most people just spend the $400-$500 and replace the headlights with projector models and an HID kit. Retro-fitting projectors into the reflector housing halogen headlights is going to be a major bit of fabrication.

03-06 bi-xenon auto leveling oem(used) already installed and functional

I have a 2000 W220 S500 with 03-06 Bi-xenon auto leveling headlights and after just 2 plug/wire harness modifications they are fully functioning. I wanted the clear lens look so I purchased a used OEM pair off of eBay part numbers
Driver Side 2208202761
Passenger Side 2208202861

But compared to the original headlights 2000 xenon pre facelift with new bulbs in both the light output is dull in the post facelift used pair, is this because the projectors are burnt out, everyone’s mentioning new projectors but would replacing just the projector reflector bowls be sufficient , Do they sell the reflector bowl separate? or just the whole projectors setup. Some members have mentioned the different projector options that go in Audi, Lexus and Mercedes. But all I can find is aftermarket replicas can somebody send me a link to the actual OEM projectors or better projectors?

I purchased a set of certified RODNEY headlights -

The high beams are the regular bulbs and the low beams

are HID -

I am extremely happy with the RODNEY headlights and

they give the car an updated look -

I ordered the RODNEY headlights with white turn signal bulbs

instead of the amber bulbs -

Every now and then people will notice during the day

and comment how great the RODNEY headlights look -

Thank-You
D.B.

RODNEY headlights = DEPO brand quad-projector headlights that I no longer needed after I sold my CLK. One thing I (and DB) found is that these are still made in China with occasional quality issues. The electrical pins can become detached in the connector housing. That happened to both of us. Otherwise, once they are installed and working, they seem to be pretty good units. When I had them, I put HID kits in the high beams as well. That made them super-bright, but was an issue with the flash function as the HIDs took a fe wsecodns to warm up and provide good light, so I went back to halogens.

Btw, I didn't know that there are 2 versions of factory HID lights for W209. I purchased the lightly front ended car (2008) where the HID lights were unfortunately destroyed. They I purchased the parts car (2005) with the good looking HID lights only to find out that the ones from the parts car (2005) won't fit my other one (2008), since the car that was front ended (2008) had adaptive HID lights (active curve or whatever system) and my parts car (2005) had just regular HID lights.. Different connectors in the back as well.

Yes, the original HID's did not swivel doe curve following. However you may be able to adapt the wiring, you just won't get the curve function.

If I will adapt the wiring- do you know if I’ll get the warning messages on the display due to the missing active curve light system?
Also important question - where I can find new gaskets around the headlights? Mine became gue

You won;t get any errors because your car doesn't have the feature.

my 2008 w209 have this feature. I need the headlights for it. If i will install the hid headlights without this active curve feature- you think it will be fine since front sam expecting this feature to be there..?

is there those gaskets existing around the headlights for sale?

Got what was the problem searching - was trying to search for "W209 headlight gasket" - 0 results. But if to search for "C209 headlight gasket" - 7 results Once I figured the part numbers from those 7 results - the cheapest were $30/ea. Better than nothing. Ordered
Thanks for the link!

I don't believe it will be a problem. I don't think you'll see any warning messages, but scanning the front SAM would probably show stored codes.
