Air Conditioning System On and Off and redirect
With the air conditioning set too low Max Air the system upon startup will work for maybe 5 minutes and then stop the blower fan. Then turn on and periodically with a redirect to the floor or to the defrost unit. Another strange behavior is that if you stop the car the fan motor will run on low for about a minute and then shut off. Sounds like a sensor to me. I cannot manually turn the blower to high after the climate control has turned off from AUTO mode. Your thoughts are welcome.
Thank you

Try the reset/resync:
With the engine running, simultaneously press and hold the RECIRC and FRONT DEFOG buttons until their indicator lights begin to flash. This puts it into test mode for 20-30 seconds. Once it's done, if everything is found to be functioning properly, it will stop. If it does not stop, you have a fault that needs further diagnosis (shut off the engine to force the end of test mode). Sometimes, doing this will "reboot" the ACC system and fix problems like this.

Rudeney, Today and yesterday the reinitiation of the air circulation electronics worked. After the CLK came up to normal operating temperature the blower can stopped with the AC condenser and radiator fan continuously running. Two bottom reinitiation attempted with the two lights continuing to alternatively blink. The AC system would the work every couple of minutes in limp mode.

It sounds like you have a fault. I'd get codes pulled form the ACC system. A generic OBDII scanner won't do it - you need one that reads MBZ proprietary systems, like iCrsoft i980 (or MBII), Autel MD802 Maxdiag Elite, or, of course SDS (official MBZ Star Diagnosis System)..

You may have a defective ACC module. It does provide diagnostic codes, but you need a tool that can read it to get them - SDS, iCarsoft i980 or MBII,Autel MD802 Maxdiag Elite.

Air Conditioning System failure then OK for a while
The ACC system has works approximatly 40% of the operating time over the last month. Starting the car up in the morning I have re-IPLed the ACC system to completion(both lights stop blinking). Once a problem has occurred the re-IPL will not
be successful.
Yesterday the ACC system went into FAIL mode and the following DCTs were diagnosed/reported by the Icarsoft diagnosis tool.
DIAG title: ACC Convienence Automation Air Condition
B1300 - Communications Error of AC bus with component: stepping motors
B1360 - Communications Error of AC bus with component: A32n1 - Blower Regulator
B1340 - Communications Error of AC bus with component: B32/2 (ACC sun sensor)
B1350 - Communications Error of AC bus with component: B31-2 Air humidity sensor
B1301 - Communications Error of AC bus with component: Component Sensor
After resetting memory the B1340 code will instantly reappear.
DIAG title: Signal Acquision Front - Ambient Temp
B14 - Ambient temp. is 169.0 F then switches to -40.0 F
DIAG title: Signal Acquision Front - Voltages
Terminal 15r - ON the swithes to OFF
Terminal 15 - ON the swithes to OFF
Terminal 61 - ON the swithes to OFF
Terminal 30 - 13.92 V then to 0 V
DIAG title: Signal Acquision - Air Conditioning Section
B12/2 Refrigerent pressure and temp sensor:
Refrigerent pressure 3276.80 Bar
0
DIAG title: B31 ACC multifunction sensor
Reletive air humidity 0 %
Ambient Temp -40.0 F
Dewpoint Temp -5.50 F
CO value of multifunction 3.98
sensor
Nox value of multifunction 0
sensor
DIAG title: B32 Sun Sensor
Light Intensity -
FL - high number then 0%
FR - high number then 32%
RL - high number then 0%
RR - high number then 66.58%
During this diagnostic effort the air conditioning system worked fine. Once the system
fails then it is on and off at different fan speeds directed through defrost and fresh air
vents (upper and lower). Last night the fan would not turn off with the key out of the
ignition.
Any additional Icarsoft diagnosis tool data needed for recommendations of how to cure this problem.
Thank You George

I am having the exact same issue as the OP. Did you get yours resolved? I also get the B1340 instantly reappear after clearing the codes.

I brought the car to an AC specialist. I informed him that I was suspicious of the sun sensor. He responded that that wouldn't cause all of these problems. At least in his 30+ years of servicing AC systems. He took the sun sensor out and it was full of water. Replaced and all was fine. I work a very long time attempting to solve this issue.
Good luck with your situation.

UPDATE: Changed out the sun sensor. It's been 3 days and so far the issue has not returned. Thank you @George Sercombe for the guidance. It is greatly appreciated.
