Wheel Refurb - Colour choice?

So I recently purchased my very first MB, it's an old 2004 CLK 270CDI but still in remarkable condition for it's age! (also I simply love it) One thing that I really need/want to do though is have the wheels refurbished as they are corroded and scuffed in places. I am wondering what colour finish to go for though? With the dark blue paint work part of me thinks I should just stick with the bright silver they already are, but another part of me wants to experiment with a darker titanium/gun metal finish. But I'm not really sure how that would look with the blue. Any suggestions or thoughts?

I'd leave them in original color.

If you wanted to go darker I would only go a shade or two. It might make the body color pop a bit more. Maybe you could play a bit with some photos to see which you like.

I would spend the money on changing the rims and maybe using the 2005 Sport ones because this gorgeous blue there deserves better looking rims than these ones. I don't even understand how MB mated them with such a gorgeous car like the CLK.

Very nice color and car by the way. I have a 2005 CLK 320 in the darker blue.

That is a nice looking ride...… Why do you want to refurbish them? Some people just want to keep the MB wheels, or to keep the car "as manufactured". I've had wheels done and I've done them myself. I've never had results that I was really happy with. I would recommend just buying new wheels. You could keep the old wheels for car resale or if you feel guilty... The refurbs I had done were not cheap. I believe they were in the $600-$800 range.

So the car is in the workshop right now, picking it up later. This is the finish I chose in the showroom, I'll post pics of the end result later.

Yeah, they're not my favourite alloys tbh and I did look into replacing them outright. Unfortunately the cost of buying four official MB rims, even second hand (some in a worse state than mine!), was way more than just refurbing what I had.

As I said in my last post, the cost of new/second hand wheels was far more than the refurb (which is costing me £250, approx $325, for all four wheels). The reason for the refurb is because all four wheels have corrosion and scuffs. Hard to see it in the pic I posted but believe me it's there if you look up close.

And here it is! I'm making "A Merc great again" haha. Going to see about getting some brand new wheel caps as the originals are bit scuffed:

It looks as if they did a nice job on your wheels...… That is quite a contrast in the pic. I think however that it does great injustice to the front half of the car.....

Thanks guys. I think the refurb came out great!

Got the blue laurel wreath caps, think they go really well with bodywork!
