reflective tape wrapped my intake box, kinda crazy

so... had a long week and wanted something fun to try... i had some dei thermal wrap from my last car and never used it. and i am planning on going to the track soon with my car and thought i would try it out...

yea... way too much gold now in my hood...

the long tubes were the easiest to wrap

lower side was a pain! i used a lot of small pieces, and just patched the edges.

i left the ribs alone. my tape is a little old, so i didn't go to nice on it. there is a chance it will fall off i think.

starting to wrap the center section... i started with the wide tape... then used the narrow one to cover up the rest.

since i did the bottom, i decided to wrap the top of the air box areas...

completed top section view

completed air box boittom side. again, i didn't go too nuts on it... thought all the gold was already nuts... haha

wow... it is just way too gold now!

yea, i am going to not want to open my hood in public now... lol

Considering that's all plastic, the temperature difference is gonna be almost zero. Def not gonna make a measurable difference.

Agree with the measurable difference... but are you thinking plastic conducts heat more then metal?

Less, there's almost no heat transfer through the plastic airbox as is, the tape is doing nothing more for you. If it was over metal it would be more helpful.

That's a lot of patience..... I shielded mine also, some time ago. I stopped at doing the underside and the long tubes. I used it primarily to help reduce heat soak on hot days and slow traffic. It is not something I did a b4 and aft test on. The car was down for several days and said why not. I think I used the same tape type. Since the purpose of the tape is to "reflect" heat, I think there is some benefit to adding it. I don't think you will be able to tell/measure any real difference however.
