AFTERMARKET ROTORS

Looking to install slotted cross drilled rotors

as well as new Akebono pads -

If any members have had any experience with

any of these companies good or bad would

you please share -

https://www.r1concepts.com/detail_ca...+Optimum_OEp++

https://brakeperformance.com/brake-r...nc-coating.php

Brakeperformance.com seemed to have the worst reviews (all several years old)

regarding quality and customer service -

Any experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated -

Thank-You
D.B.

you should mention which akebono pads...

i have EUR984 on my rears and they seem good. low dust and no noise. happy with it. my pad is for the 6/4 pot application in ceramic.

my fronts are noisy in the morning only... going reverse? lol...
oem 360mm floating with posi ceramic

rears are good overall
oem rotor with akebono ceramic

if it weren't for the slots, i think my setup would be dustless... but alas... they are slightly lightly dusty.

my setup has a bit less bite then oem (only noticeable when i swap to another car... i notice the difference more since i have a comparison), but i still get confident braking... had some close calls and was able to modulate with out slamming into the ABS mode. i am running better summer tires too...

NO LONGER ACTIVE
I had Akebono pads on my CLK550 and hated them. No matter what I did, they were noisy (and I've ALWAYS been able to quiet my brakes with proper lubes). Also, they were nowhere near as good at stopping the car. One time, I even had a very scary situation as the brakes just felt like they would not "bite". That was on OE rotors. I then swapped out for D+S Frozen Rotors and Porterfield pads. They were much better, but still not quite the stopping power of OE. Also, the Frozen Rotors warped just a bit. I ended up going back to OE pads and rotors and was much happier. Yes, they are dusty, but that dust is very easy to wash off. i;d rather have good stops and dirty rims than the other way around.

These are the pads in question -

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-akebono-...054209520~ake/

I had these installed on the CLK about a year ago and have not heard

one squeak or squeal and no dust - very happy with these -

When changing the rotors I will be installing new pads so everything

is bedded correctly -

My driving style does not require maximum braking power and I am

doing this for the look as I am still looking for new (to me) 18/19" wheels -

I am open regarding wheels but I am looking for a set off a 2006 SL65 OEM

like these -

Thank-You
D.B.

Own 2005 CLK500, but drive 2011 Sienna :)
I have a good experience with EBC rotors and EBC Yellow Stuff pads (for street and light track use). So far. Not on Mercedes, but regardless. Lot of dust, but I don’t care. Braking performance is more important for me than a dust.
