17-inch upgrade for CLK320
I like to upgrade my 2004 CLK-320's stock 16-inch to 17-inch wheels/tires.
I am not sure if I want the staggered setup. I am thinking to use 7.5 x 17 wheels with 225/45-17 tires all around. I do not want to go too low-profile because of my frequently travel to Montreal, the pothole city.
What do you think ?

I upgraded to 17x8 BBS wheels and 225 PS2 tires all around. The looks are substantially better, the ride is about the same as far as I can tell, and the roadholding is vastly improved. I could have gone with 245 tires, but was concerned that there may have been rubbing issues up front. Regardless, I'm very happy with the new shoes!

Sorry this reply is so late. All tires have a range of rim widths on which they will fit well. Normally it is no problem going up in rim width an inch or so, as long as the rim offset is compatable with the car so the tires don't hit the bodywork. The BBS rims were known to fit the CLKs fine, and they work great on mine. I could have gone with a wider tire like a 245 ( with the same diameter ), but it wasn't known if there would be interference problems in the front. I'm very happy with the 225s!
