Grinding noise / not wheel bearing/ not engine

Hi
On my clk 220cdi 2006 5 speed automatic i have a grinding noise and some vibrations that i feel in steeringweel and gaspedal when driving. It's like a ball bearing but its not from the wheels. Its best felt when its around 1200 2000 rpm. When coasting and in neutral its stil there. I was at two shops and nobody can tell what it is. The best answer that i got was : change everything one by one and see when the problem is solved. Well i dont have the time or money to do so.

Could it be: gearbox,driveshaft/rear diff.?

The car work fine but the REALLY SAD PART IS that it's a Mercedes Benz and it should and could drive smood as glass but i can not find the problem.

A friend of mine has a c class and i felt the same vibrations in his car too. He does not care of it so he does not not know what it is.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Check the flex plates (the rubber isolators) on either end of the driveshaft.

Black 2004 CLK (w209) 320 Cabrio auto transm. "Elegance" trim; <br /> 2014 A180 black man.
I second Rudeney's suggestion: have someone inspect those black rubber discs on the driveshaft. I had similar "noisy vibe" mostly felt between 105 and 110 km/h. There are 2 discs. Rear is easy to inspect. Front disc is a pain *#!!# and requires some disassembly. They are not expensive. Good luck

CLK350
On my clk350 grinding noise was from rear differential, same symptoms as yours. When I changed a fluid in there it was with small pieces of metal and fluid was shiny, after I changed a whole differential, vibration and grinding noise was gone.
