Interior Care

Just bought a bottle of Meguaires Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner and a bottle of Meguaires Vinyl and Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner.

I plan to apply these products to my 2004 CLK-320 tomorrow. The leather-care product will be applied to the seats as well as the leather trims inside the car. The vinyl-care product product will be applied to the dash, console, and door/windows trims.

Did anyone use these products to their MB before ?

I've used the no. 40 vinyl and rubber cleaner on my CLK 500 for a while, and have been very satisfied with the results. Leaves a very smooth, almost satiny feel to the dash, non-leather door panels and center console, with a sheen that's a bit more reflective than dull matte, but nowhere near shiny or glossy. Overall, a very effective product.

I apply it by spraying onto a foam pad and then wiping down the surfaces, followed by light buffing with a soft microfiber towel. just beautiful.

Haven't used the leather produce, I use the new Turtle Wax conditioner/cleaner after reading some very positive reports on Autopia. I think you'll like what No. 40 will do for your interior.

So, you do use some leather cleaner/conditioner on your leather seats. Good, I was worried that these products would cause some damage since I read it somewhere that these leather was treated.

The leather does have a type of clear coating.

I use that particular leather cleaner on my ash grey seats. It works well but you need to use a lot to get the dirt out. So dont skimp.

Dont forget the leather on your steering wheel. You'll be surprised how dirty that is.

I finally used separate applicator pads to apply the two products to the interior. I wiped down the whole interior with a moist cloth the day before.

2 observations:

1. Vinyl: After applying the vinyl-care, it did give an unnatural shine to the dash. I waited 15-20 minutes and as instructed on the lable, I wiped it with a dry cotton cloth and the shine disappeared.

2. Leather: I did not drive the car yet in the sun so I am not sure if any of the creamy product gets into the perforations. I did notice the leather became darker, even after 24 hours. I sure hope that the leather will become lighter (as original) in the next few days.

Nebraska99: Did you leather trun darker ?
