Arrow 275/40/19" rear & 255/40/19" front fitment?

Hi guys,

Just a quick question on wheel & tire fitment - I have a 09 CLK350 and just wondering if 275/40/19" rears & 255/40/19" fronts will fit the vehicle?

Have done some research and some people seem to say 275's on the rear may be too tall of a tire.

Am on stock suspension and ride height.

Thank you!

I think both those sizes are going to be too much. I know there is a light rub spot on my front wheel well liners with stock size tires. I think that small rub area is due to aggressive driving and because the car is lowered. Even at stock height, it is hard for me to imagine the liner being able to accommodate another 10-15mm. I run 265s on the rear. Have never attempted 275.

I'm running Michelin 275/35-18 rears & lowered rear with eibachs & #4 pads. wheels have 35 offset - no rubbing. I do use 3mm spacers in rear for appearance only. You can buy 3mm spacers on am*zon for about $8 and have them ready as a precaution. Also rear fenders are slightly rolled.

If you do have interior rubbing then note that Michelins & many other low profile tires have a rubber lip "rim protector" that extends about 3mm. On the inside tire surface, I have sanded the rim protector down without any issues.

Also note that MB ABS sensors may throw CEL if wheel circumference is off by more than 1%. I run 235/40-18s front & 275/35-18 rear & no CEL

Hi Fatz, thanks for your reply. From what I understand, I have seen other CLKs, particularly 55s and 63s with 19" wheels with quite wide rubber. Here is a picture for reference as to what I'm talking about. These wheels are also the same ones in question in my OP. I think if I am on stock suspension, I should be able to clear them, but I'll see what the wheel shop says also.

Hi 0zranvest, you mentioned that you're using 3mm spacers in the rear to push the wheels out - from my limited understanding of wheel sizes and offsets though, 275/35-40 tires already seem to be quite a wide wheel, thus eliminating the need for spacers? Unless I'm not understanding fully. I would love to see a picture of your fitment!
