Headlight vacuum adjuster not working

Hi I'm a newbie here and I hope someone can help me with an annoying problem

I have a 2002 CLK240 V6 W209 and when I bought the car the headlight adjustment on the dash didn't work . After doing some research I realised that they are vacuum controlled, when I took off the engine cover I can see a small diameter grey pipe which I assume has come loose and should go into a pipe somewhere on the inlet manifold.
HOWEVER After over two hours of looking today I simply cannot find the rubber hose it must connect to I've looked everywhere I can think of with a torch so I've finally had to conceded defeat and ask for HELP

it's only short grey pipe so it must connect somewhere around the air intake? I assume it was accidentally dislodged when removing the engine cover during a service ??

Can anyone give give me the exact location of the pipe?
