clk 2005 w209 what amp do i have
hi my wife has a 2005 clk 320 ,, the command system is not working properly ( sound only comes on for a second or so when i turn the volume knob ) it was in for a service at the local Mercedes specialist and they suspect it was the amp and gave me the part number 1698208089 and said to try and get hold of a second hand amp and fit it and this should cure the problem . my question is , is there any way of telling what amp is fitted without removing the amp its self , as the only ones i can find second hand are in america and i am in the uk , so dont want to order and find i have the wrong amp . as i have done a bit of checking and it appears they also fitted a bose amp on the same year and model and on some cars were fitted with an amp integrated into the command head unit. the amp appears to be behind a metal panel it the boot between the boot and the rear seats and could take a while to get out . help.

hi just a quick update , i managed to remove the amp today , it is located in the boot on the left hand side . its not visible as its hidden in between the outer wing and an internal panel , all you have to do is undo two 10mm bolts that hold it in and one 10mm nut that holds in the fuse box. remove the fuse box to one side it can stay connected and then the amp slides out. have brought a second hand one from ebay , will update when it arrives and have fitted it
