Lowering the CLK

hey I am about to lower my CLK with H&R springs, but I wanted to know from others who lowered their car if I have to shave my fenders if I got 265s in the back and 235s in the front. Some people have said they had to do it, others said they didnt. There is another issue too I have 5 mm spacers all around cuz the 19" AMG wheels didnt fit the CLK offset, so I was wondering if this would be an issue. THanks

P.S. anybody know a good place that is cheap in southern cali that will only do the install of the springs?

I dont know what your correct offset is, but for my old rims, i had 19x8 in front with 235's in front and 265's in rear, my rear was 19x10 and offset was 35 all around with H&R drop. I had no problems, didnt have to cut nor roll fender. the drop and set up was perfect. If your in Socal, you might want to check out F1motorsport in North Hollywood. Ask For David.

It was $150 installed and if you want to roll or shave fender, its $40 per fender.

I just got a quote from Ron's Tire in Van Nuys (or North Hollywood?) for Brabus springs installed.. the springs are $375, and $350 for labor, including alignment. Is that real high? I want Brabus springs, but I want to avoid F1 motorsports in North Hollywood, since they had to install my brabus muffler twice (got it wrong the first time), and then scratched up my trunk with the old muffler.

Do you have a better place for me to go in LA? I called Brabus themselves, and they want $741.77 installed, which is about the same as Ron's Tire, but theyre really far.

well, alignment is like what 100 dollars plus? but 350 for installation of just springs and alignment is kinda a lot.

Any of you guys also change your shocks? From what I understand these will be shot, and you will have to replace these as well. Best to do it all at once so you can consolidate the labor.

350 sounds right with alignment. We are talking install of all 4 springz and alignment right? 350 is a pretty fair deal.

I'll try F1... again.. but this time I will go with the guy to their garage where the installation is done and watch him work... make sure it's done right without scratches.

hey, just wondering, does anyone know how much it costs to install coilovers on a clk? will it take a lot longer for coilovers than springs? or is it just like one extra step? thanks

Installing springs is much simpler than installing CO. You have to take out the shocks when changing to CO which is a relatively time consuming/complex job.

You better not pay anything more than 150 for spring installation.

C 320 Sport - I have H&R springs on 19 HREs with 265 Toyo T1 in the back. So far I have not had any problems and everything runs fine. I also had mine installed by F1 in N. Hollywood, but went through a different guy. Let me know what questions you have.

HRE's should be custom made for your car... no spacers or any other mods should be necessary.

anyone know if there would be any rubbing problems with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s for a clk500? I bought HRE 447rs 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 with PS2s 235/35/19 and 265/30/19. I got a great deal for them as a package cuz me and my brother bought rims hehe. But anyone know if I would have any rubbing problems with the PS2s if I lower cuz I have heard that teh PS2s have a bigger sidewall.

Holy crap, F1 Motorsports is so frustrating. Last week, they gave me a quote of $450 for Brabus springs installed, no alignment - or $390 for H&R springs installed, no alignment. Today, I call to place the order, the price now jumped to $750! Still, with no alignment! Why do people go to them?

yeah F1 did that to me too. they told me $150 for installing my xenon headlights. then the day they were gonna put it in, they said $200 cuz they had to take off the bumper. its shady. they think they can charge anyone what they want cuz no one else will do it.
