Snagged some Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S in stock size
For the rear... on my CLK 500 I am learning that the rears wear 2x faster, leaving my Nokian Zline a/s in front very high at 8/32"+ and the rears under 5/32". The Nokians are great tires for the money, but not much in the a/s dept, more of a performance tire that uses a/s compound.
So, I wanted something with more cold/wet/snow for the rear replacements. Well, it's not a cheap size, so I was watching these Eagles go up and down in price. Once I decided I wanted them, and they came back down to $82, which is a steal. I pulled the trigger in 245/40-17.
I think they are a good all-around choice, especially with an eye to driving in cold. Mixing the brands and types of tires should be fine, better than losing the rear end.
